As vice president of international programs, Bistra Zheleva leads the direction and strategy for all of Children’s HeartLink’s programs, in Brazil, China, India, Malaysia and Vietnam. The heart of her work is building relationships with our international partners and medical volunteers, and building capacity in pediatric cardiac care in the countries where we work. She is a member of the steering committee of the International Quality Improvement Collaborative for Congenital Heart Surgery in Developing World Countries. Bistra has been with Children’s HeartLink since 2003. She has an undergraduate degree in finance from Varna Economics University in Varna, Bulgaria, an M.B.A. in nonprofit management from the University of St. Thomas, and she has completed the Harvard School of Public Health’s Global Health Effectiveness Program.

We work in concert with our dedicated medical volunteers, as well as governments and other organizations, to provide training, mentoring and capacity building opportunities designed to meet the unique needs of each partner hospital.
