In Celebration of a New Year...

Dear Friends,

We begin the new year with a great sense of hope and enthusiasm.  As we reflect on what has been accomplished in 2009 during these challenging times, we can only marvel at the compassion and dedication demonstrated by our international partner hospitals, talented medical volunteers, donors, event volunteers, staff and board.  I am reminded of what Robert Kennedy once said that “The future does not belong to those who are content with today.  Rather it will belong to those who can blend vision, reason and courage in a personal commitment.”

I extend my deepest thanks to Andy Nelson, our outgoing board Chair, who has exemplified personal commitment in his leadership these past two years.  At the same time, I welcome our incoming board Chair, Keith Halleland, as we begin the year with renewed strategies by way of a regional approach to sustainable development.

The need for our services remains high.  Ninety percent of children in developing countries still do not have ready access to sophisticated cardiac care.  We owe profound thanks to the many partners who have believed in our work and in the vision that all children should have ready access to quality cardiac care.  With your continued support, we will deepen service to our partners and further our reach to children in the world.

With gratitude,

Elizabeth
