Mary McMahon Busch Nurse Training Fund

We’ve established the Mary McMahon Busch Nurse Training Fund in memory of our treasured board member Mary McMahon Busch, who passed away this spring.

This fund will be dedicated to educating, training and empowering nurses in pediatric cardiac care at Children’s HeartLink partner hospitals. Mary was a cardiac nurse by training, and she had an intimate understanding of the vital role nurses play as members of the cardiac team. She was a passionate supporter of our work and an advocate for saving the lives of children with heart disease in underserved parts of the world.

“Mary was a remarkable woman who certainly made a mark in her 56 years, and with this nurse training fund, her legacy will live on,” says Children’s HeartLink President Jackie Boucher. “We’re grateful to her family for directing memorial gifts to support the advancement and empowerment of nurses, who are integral to our work.”

Mary served on our board since 2013, first as a representative of St. Jude Medical and later, Abbott Laboratories. She was the lead international executive for the integration of the St. Jude Medical international commercial business into Abbott, where she was named vice president of corporate accounts.

Mary is survived by her husband Jeff Busch, daughters Katie and Annie, and son Brett. To make a donation to support nurse training and education, designate the Mary McMahon Busch Nurse Training Fund.
