From the Journal of Sandy Staveski:
“Each step is the place to learn.” (Sue Bender, Everyday Sacred) Those simple, yet powerful words outline my experience with Children’s HeartLink.
I have been extremely fortunate to work with Children’s HeartLink on several medical and nursing missions. These experiences have introduced me to a culture and its people in a way I would never have experienced otherwise. Each experience has fostered my personal and professional growth and I am grateful to Children’s HeartLink and my hosts for those experiences.
Hopefully, I have been able to share a fraction of what I have gained with the South African and Indian teams that I have had the great privilege of collaborating with. While the goal of each mission is to provide education and enhance cardiac healthcare in underserved populations, the true power of these experiences is the exploration of yourself and your practice that happens during the process. You grow as an individual and as a clinician, and each step is the place to learn.”
Sandy's favorite quote:
"Whatever you can do, or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."-Goethe
